Poison Help 1-800-222-1222

April 24 is “Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day”. The Utah Poison Control Center has provided the following tips to help you reduce the chance of poison exposure in your home or workplace:

  • Store all medicines separately from household products and household chemicals away from food.
  • Avoid flushing old or unused prescription and over-the-counter medications.
  • Store household chemicals away from food.
  • Never store potential poisons in containers used for eating and drinking. Store all potential poisons in their original, labeled containers. Leave the original labels on all products.
  • Never refer to medicine as candy to a young child.
  • Avoid taking medication in front of small children.
  • Turn on a light when taking or giving medication.
  • When you are using household chemical products and medicines, never let them out of your sight, even if you must take them along when answering the telephone or doorbell.

It’s spring time and that means spring runoff.

Here are some things to think about while staying safe on the trails

• Stay on the trails
• There is safety in numbers when hiking
• Dress in layers
• Wear good shoes with traction
• Don’t count on your cell phone for communication. Most cell phones don’t have reception on many waterfall hikes.
• Always tell someone where you are going and when you will return

Have a fun and safe spring time!
